Popular Classes To Consider

It is almost time to pick classes for the next semester. If you aren’t sure what classes you can take to add some enjoyment into your schedule and are known to be engaging and reasonable. All of these courses have no prerequisites.

Age of Dinosaurs Professor Dr. Rowan Lockwood

Age of dinosaurs is a course that explores paleontology. In this course you learn climate change, evolution and (of course) dinosaurs. I have not taken this class personally but I have heard students describe the course as fascinating, with a warm instructor keen on remembering everyone’s name. This course is typically offered in the spring and sometimes fall semester. It fills the requirements of COLL 200 and NQR. 

Psychology as a Social Science taught by Dr. Jaclyn Moloney (but I have heard good things about other professors as well)

This class explores the social science aspect of psychology including development, personality and behavior. Jaclyn Moloney is kind and approachable. The course is offered in both fall and spring semesters. This course fills a COLL200 and CSI attribute. 

Psychology as a Natural Science taught by Dr. Brian Rabinovitz 

This class is complementary to the social science portion. A lot of the material overlaps and if you enjoyed Psychology as a Social Science you may enjoy this class as well. This class is often offered in both spring and fall semesters and is occasionally also offered in the summer semester. This class fills a COLL200 and NQR. 

Right and Wrong in the Contemporary World taught by Dr. Tim Sommers 

This course discusses common philosophical positions on various topics including abortion, animal rights, divine command theory and much more. Dr. Sommers is very approachable to his students and willing to help. This course is offered in both fall and spring semesters. The course fills COLL200 and ALV requirements.

Introduction to Marine Science taught by  Dr. Mark Brush 

This course explores the oceans and focuses on ocean geology, salinity, currents and some marine life. Mark Brush is known to be warm and friendly, often cracking jokes with his students. This class is offered in the spring semester. This course fills a COLL200 and NQR

Topics in Env Science & Policy: Ecotherapy Sci & Experience taught by Dr. Dorothy Ibes 

This course focuses on the environment and mindfulness. It can be a great way to find some balance and find a new way to relax. This course is offered both semesters and does not fill any COLL attributes.

Intro to Shakespeare taught by Dr. Erin Minear 

This course highlights the literary works of Shakespeare. The course explores the historical context surrounding Shakespearean theater and in depth analysis of them. Dr. Erin Minear is known to be warm and welcoming. This course is typically offered in the spring semester and fills an ALV attribute.
